Clarisonic and Bon Appétit Giveaway!
We have teamed up with Bon Appétit for their June issue! At Clarisonic, we feel empowered by taking our skincare into our own hands with Sonic Cleansing, but we also practice this motto when it comes to eating healthy.
We have all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. What you eat can affect your skin’s glow and it’s important to start your day off right. Therefore, we are asking Bon Appétit readers and our fans what they do in their morning ritual to keep their skin healthy from the inside out.
Here are our favorite super foods that we eat to keep healthy in addition to using our Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing System every morning:
Greek Yogurt
With more protein than regular yogurt, Greek yogurt will surely start your day off right with plenty of vitamin A to keep your skin glowing.
Berries
Fruits such as blueberries, pomegranates, and strawberries are packed with antioxidants to fight off free radicals and keep your skin glowing.
Whole Grain Toast with Almond Butter
Whole grains are great for the skin! Skip the butter or sweetened jam and opt for protein and fiber-rich Almond Butter.
Granola
With plenty of value-added mixes like flax seed, pumpkin seeds and wheat germ, granola is a great way to get a daily dose of super foods.
Fresh Juice
We’ve all heard of the recent juice detox and there’s a reason for it. Fresh juice provides you with the essential vitamins found in fruit without having to break down the actual fruit.
Most importantly, don’t forget Water. Keep yourself hydrated for optimal mind, body and skin. Drinking water from the moment you wake up can jump start your system for the day!
Now tell us what you eat to stay healthy and your morning skincare routine for a chance to win a Clarisonic and dinner for two by visiting the contest page!

Update your Beauty Routine to be Age Appropriate
Here at Clarisonic we are all about keeping your skin looking healthy and young. So much so, that we want to help keep your beauty routine updated accordingly. The eye shadow colors you had in your early 20s may not work so well for you at an older age and your moisturizer might need an extra kick to deal with the changes in your skin.
The plus side of updating your beauty routine is that you have most likely tried and tested numerous products and know which brands work best for you. The downside is that you might be too comfortable to make the switch to other products. Below are few tips to update your beauty routine to be age appropriate.
In your 20s: While this may be prime time to experiment with makeup colors, this is also the time you may start to see the signs of aging appear on your skin. Be sure to include a sunscreen in your daily skincare routine to help prevent aging and always, always moisturize. Exfoliating is also a great way to increase cell turnover rate whether it be with your Clarisonic or other exfoliant.
In your 30s: Reevaluate those bold colors of your 20s and opt for more versatile makeup shades such as earthy tones for your eyes and peach or rose for the cheeks. Your skin will become a little softer and prevention is always preferable over having to find a solution for an issue. Add in anti-aging and firming products to your skincare routine. The skin around the eye area is extra thin and needs special attention. Use an eye cream and even better; check out the Opal Sonic Infusion System which provides increased hydration and visibly reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
In your 40s: Wrinkles or creases are generally more established once you enter your 40s. Avoid heavy makeup that tends to accentuate fine lines. Stick to neutral shades and scale back on the eye makeup. Oil and collagen production will have decreased therefore requiring skin care products that offer a boost in these areas. Eliminate powder foundation that can also add to the dryness of your skin.
In your 50s and beyond: You may notice radical changes in your skin including age or sun spots. Be sure to keep you skin well hydrated with a deep moisturizer. Use a highlighter to lift droopy brows and heighten cheekbones and hide fine lines. Foundation should be used sparingly and you can always add some color with a fresh pink lipstick.

5 Tips for Dewy Looking Skin
Spring is just around the corner and creating a dewy look can be tricky. This look is perfect for the upcoming season, synonymous with freshness and renewal. To master a dewy look without appearing too shiny or shimmery, you might want to keep these tips in mind.
1. Use a moisturizer with a light sheen to it.
2. Try an illuminating face primer or highlighter. Your goal here is pearly, not shimmery.
3. Use a sheer foundation so the illuminating face primer or highlighter can show through, mimicking your skin’s glow.
4. Finish your makeup with a translucent finishing powder or a vitamin and mineral infused spray.
5. Eat your Omega-3 fatty acid and anti-oxidants. This nutrient can be found in salmon, nuts and even certain eggs. With plenty of Omega-3s, your skin will look more radiant.
Of course, using your Clarisonic will provide the perfect base to achieve that dewy skin look this Spring.

Health and Wellness: How Do You Unwind?
Anyone who enjoys being pampered knows that a trip to the spa is just what you need to relax and unwind. However, that might not always be possible or practical. We know some of our fans often use their Clarisonic as a way to relax and either start or end the day. We thought we would take it a step further and share some other great ideas to unwind in addition to sonic cleansing.
Take a bath: Add a scent, bubbles or oil and light a few candles while you submerge to relaxation.
Aromatherapy: Essential oils used in aromatherapy can subtly affect your mind and emotions to a “feel-good” state. Aromatherapy has been known to relieve tension and improve sleep.
Steam Room: Steam opens your pores, soothes sore muscles and increases circulation providing a relaxing and healthy experience.
Foot Rub: Standing on your feet all day can cause strain. A foot rub or even better, a massage, provides a great way to unwind.
Yoga Class: Deep breathing and stretching in yoga is a great way to unwind and focus on your body.
What’s your favorite way to unwind?

Exfoliating and Your Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing System
Clarisonic users often wonder if they should use an exfoliator with their Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Systems. The Clarisonic provides a new level of cleansing that is more effective than manual cleansing and therefore people are unsure if an exfoliator in addition to the Clarisonic would be too harsh for their skin.
Exfoliation can come in the form of a facial scrub or more chemical-based like a toner containing salicylic acid. Both aim to brighten your skin by sloughing away dead skin cells and increasing the rate of cell turnover.
The Clarisonic can remove up to six times more makeup than manual cleansing and is gentle enough to use twice daily (unlike some exfoliants). With this in mind, you may or may not want to have an exfoliant in your skincare routine. We always strive to keep in mind that personal preference and skin types vary. Therefore, we recommend that if you are going to use an exfoliant, don’t use one with jagged exfoliating particles such as shells with your Clarisonic. Using soft, round and fine exfoliating particles will be gentler in combination with the Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing System.
Let us know if you have a question about a particular exfoliator to use with your Clarisonic. We are also available on Twitter and Facebook. We would love to know what exfoliators our Clarisonic users have found to work well with their system. Please share with us and other Clarisonic users in the comments!

Skin Care Essentials: New Year’s Skin Resolutions
Now that we have started a New Year, there is no better time than to take your skincare into your own hands. Just because another year means another birthday and a year older, doesn’t mean the effects have to be seen on your skin. We’ve compiled a list of skincare resolutions for 2011 to help keep your skin looking fresh and young.
Don’t Sleep with Your Makeup On
Your skin needs time to breathe and wearing makeup non-stop can clog your pores.
Wear Sunscreen Daily
Although you may not be in the sun every day, using a moisturizer with an SPF will help fight the signs of aging caused by the sun even when it is overcast outside.
Don’t Pick Your Skin
We all know how tempting it is to pick or scratch a blemish, but this is only prolonging the problem and could possibly result in a scar.
Drink Plenty of Water
Many people don’t drink nearly as much water as the recommended daily amount. Eight glasses a day is a must and your skin will thank you for it.
Get Your Beauty Sleep
During the night, our skin restores itself from the effects of stress, makeup and harmful elements. Inadequate sleep can show through your skin with unwanted dark circles and fine lines so be sure to get your beauty sleep.
Exercise
Around the holidays we can fall out of our routine of exercising so the New Year is great time to get back into the swing of things. Sweating out your skins impurities through exercising is one healthy way to have glowing skin.
Cleanse With Your Clarisonic!
Try to keep up a regular routine of cleansing with your Clarisonic. We all know life can be hectic getting ready in the mornings and for bed, but aim to use your Clarisonic on a regular basis instead of at random intervals so your skin is accustomed to the sonic cleansing.
Now that we have shared some skincare resolutions for 2011, we want to know yours! Share with us in the comments!

Skin Care Essentials: Winterize Your Skin
The change in seasons can be rough on your skin. The cold weather strips moisture from your skin generally causing you to alter your normal skincare routine. For example, the eye area is especially delicate and thin, needing extra attention during the colder months. Here are some tips to help keep your skin fresh throughout the winter.
Use a Moisturizer with Sunscreen
Although it might be overcast and rainy, don’t abandon your daily moisturizer with sunscreen. Apply the moisturizer in the morning and night immediately after cleansing to lock the moisture in and protect you from winter glaze.
Eliminate Products Containing Alcohol
Alcohol is drying to the skin. If your toner or any other products contain alcohol, save them for a warmer season.
Avoid Hot Baths and Showers
With the cold temperatures, a hot bath or shower sounds fabulous but little do you know, the hot water strips the skin of its natural moisture. Opt for a warm shower to keep your skin hydrated.
Use a Humidifier
The heater is generally on during these colder months which can be very drying. Use a humidifier to restore moisture to the air.
Extra Care for Your Eyes
The skin around your eyes is more delicate and thin than the rest of your face. Be sure to use an eye cream or serum to lock in moisture and for extra care, check out the Clarisonic Opal Infusion System.
Use Lip Balm with Sunscreen
You may be tempted to lick your chapped lips but you are only worsening their condition. Keep a lip balm with sunscreen on hand to use when your lips start to feel dry.
Dress in Layers
Your skin will compensate if you are too hot or too cold so dress in layers to be able to add and remove pieces accordingly depending on your body temperature.
Take Care of Your Hands and Feet
Hands and feet tend to be extra dry during the winter months. Moisturize often and especially after increased washing of your hands during the cold and flu season.
The winter can be tough on your skin, but with care and attention, you can prevent dry skin and blotchiness. These are some tips we swear by during the winter, but we would love to hear your suggestions!

Clarisonic Backstage at New York Fashion Week: Chris Benz
Clarisonic was a hit for the second day in a row at New York Fashion Week. Our celebrity esthetician Eileen Harcourt was backstage at the Chris Benz show Monday afternoon prepping models with Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing and Opal Sonic Infusion systems. Several of the models remembered Harcourt from previous fashion events and couldn’t wait to get their Clarisonic facial!
The theme of Chris Benz’s show was “An All-American Girl in Paris,” and Harcourt want to accentuate that theme with an “All-American Glow” look for each model with the help of the Opal Sonic Infusion System. By the time the models went through hair, makeup and wardrobe, they were truly looking their best!
Harcourt also brought along the cute Blue Mia – the newest Mia color – for models and fashion press to check out. (To order your own Blue Mia click here.) But the biggest backstage surprise of the day came when the famous YouTube beauty blogger, Michelle Phan, stopped by the Clarisonic station and raved about how much she loved all the products!
Have you been keeping up with the latest trends at New York Fashion Week this season? What’s your favorite look? Share with us!
