We often receive inquiries from Clarisonic users regarding the different brush head options for the Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing System. With all the fabulous options to choose from it can be tricky deciding which one is right for you! Here are some common questions and answers to give you better insight on choosing a brush head.
What brush head came with my Clarisonic?
- Clarisonic Mia Sonic Cleansing System: Sensitive Brush Head.
o Limited Edition Hope Mia comes with a Sensitive Pink Brush Head.
- Clarisonic Classic Sonic Cleansing System: Sensitive Brush Head.
o The Graphite Gray model comes with a Normal Brush Head.
- Clarisonic PLUS Sonic Cleansing System: Sensitive Brush Head.
- Clarisonic PRO Sonic Cleansing System: Sensitive Brush Head.
o The Graphite Gray model comes with a Normal Brush Head.
What are the different types of brush heads?
The available brush heads are: Delicate, Sensitive, and Normal. These are compatible on all of our units. The Body Brush is available for the PLUS and PRO models only.
Why is the sensitive brush head standard?
We have found this to be our most popular brush head. Therefore, this brush head is included with every new Clarisonic.
Which brush head is best for my skin?
Everyone’s skin is different and we suggest you listen to your skin when selecting a brush head. If you want a deeper cleanse, the normal brush head is slightly stiffer. If you are experiencing dry patches or irritation, you might want to try the sensitive or delicate brush head. The delicate brush head is also designed for extra sensitive skin or for those suffering from complicated skin conditions.
Can I use the body brush on the Clarisonic Mia Sonic Cleansing System?
No. The Body Brush is only compatible with the PLUS and PRO models.
Does each model require a different type of brush head?
No. All facial brush heads work on any model (The Body Brush is only compatible with the PLUS and PRO models).
Does the brush head spin?
No. The brush head oscillates (back and forth motion) to provide a more gentle cleansing experience.
Can I share a brush head with another person?
We strongly recommend using separate brush heads because your skins differ in condition and we want you to achieve optimal results.
Do I need to clean my brush head?
Yes. While you may believe you are cleaning your brush head every time you cleanse, we suggest cleaning the brush head once a week using an antibacterial cleanser. For a more detailed tutorial on brush head cleaning, please read our previous Sonic Chatter Post: How Do I Clean My Brush Head?

Ask Dr. Robb: How do I clean my brush head?
Many of you have asked “How do I clean my Clarisonic brush head?” We’ve been listening and wanted to share with you the Dr. Robb brush cleaning method.
1. Remove brush head by gently turning counter clockwise
2. Gently rinse brush head in warm water.
3. Apply anti-bacterial soap to the brush head to clean the bristles. If necessary rinse out the interior of the brush under the sink or shower head.
4. Reattach the brush head to the unit. You are ready to sonic cleanse again!
Remember it’s important to clean your brush head at least once a week and replace every three months. Happy Cleansing!

Clarisonic Backstage at New York Fashion Week: Chris Benz
Clarisonic was a hit for the second day in a row at New York Fashion Week. Our celebrity esthetician Eileen Harcourt was backstage at the Chris Benz show Monday afternoon prepping models with Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing and Opal Sonic Infusion systems. Several of the models remembered Harcourt from previous fashion events and couldn’t wait to get their Clarisonic facial!
The theme of Chris Benz’s show was “An All-American Girl in Paris,” and Harcourt want to accentuate that theme with an “All-American Glow” look for each model with the help of the Opal Sonic Infusion System. By the time the models went through hair, makeup and wardrobe, they were truly looking their best!
Harcourt also brought along the cute Blue Mia – the newest Mia color – for models and fashion press to check out. (To order your own Blue Mia click here.) But the biggest backstage surprise of the day came when the famous YouTube beauty blogger, Michelle Phan, stopped by the Clarisonic station and raved about how much she loved all the products!

Clarisonic Hits New York Fashion Week: Backstage at VPL
Despite the early 7:45 a.m. call time on Sunday, models at the VPL show at New York Fashion Week – rarely known for their punctuality – were right on time to ensure they had a chance to get a Clarisonic facial from celebrity esthetician Eileen Harcourt.
A thorough cleansing is the first step in any skincare routine, and Harcourt says she wouldn’t even recommend applying moisturizer to the face unless it had a Sonic Cleansing first.
The look for the VPL show was “dewy and glowing,” and Harcourt noted that skin was considered an accessory. Makeup artists used little makeup on the models, so it was up to the Clarisonic team to make each model’s skin shine with Sonic Cleansing System and Opal Sonic Infusion System. Harcourt and her talented staff made sure each model had the fresh look the VPL designers desired.

Sonic Cleansing: Which cleanser is best?
All of the Clarisonic Sonic Cleansing Systems are versatile enough that they can be used with your favorite non-abrasive cleansers. However, the Clarisonic cleansers are scientifically developed to be the perfect complement to your Clarisonic skin care ritual.
Gentle Hydro Cleanser: this particular cleanser is best for all/sensitive skin. The Gentle Hydro Cleanser works to remove impurities while soothing and comforting skin.
