  • How to Shrink and Minimize Pores

We asked for your skincare concerns and you answered! In the last month you have been weighing in on your most important skin care concerns through our online Skin Care Quiz. There is no doubt we are all striving for perfect skin so we asked, “If your skin could make a wish, what would it be?” Over 14,000 people (or 21% of the men and women taking the Clarisonic Skin Quiz) are looking for ways to “Shrink my pores so my skin is softer and smoother.”

SkincarequizWith so many Clarisonic users interested in minimizing the appearance of their pores, we thought we would look deeper into the question, how do you minimize the appearance of enlarged or clogged pores?

Let’s start by gaining an understanding of what pores are and their purpose. Bottom line, we need our pores. These tiny little openings allow oil and sweat to reach your skin’s surface. The good news is, while we cannot completely eliminate our pores we can make them appear smaller!

A simple Google search on this topic populates several products and regiments claiming to shrink and even eliminate your pores. In reality, the best way to reduce the appearance of pores is to keep your skin clean!

Why is clean skin so important?

Day and night, our skin is subject to oil, perspiration, dirt, and makeup. These combine to make a sticky, stubborn pore-clogging layer that can make our skin look unhealthy, feel rough and even cause irritation. This layer of film also acts as a barrier to skincare products resulting in reduced effectiveness. Cleansing your skin at least once or twice a day helps to dislodge any unwanted dirt, sweat, oil or makeup. Your pores will now be free of dirt and grime making your skin softer, smoother and allowing skincare products to absorb more deeply and evenly.

We are happy to lend a hand in the fight against enlarged and clogged pores. The first question our founders asked when developing the Clarisonic was “how do you unplug a pore?” and from that it evolved to “how do you transform the look and feel of your skin?”

How do Clarisonic Facial Cleansing Devices unplug a pore?

Clarisonic’s patented, perfected and loved Sonic Technology gently oscillates back and forth to physically flex the pores, loosening trapped debris and reducing pore appearance. Additionally, excess oily patches and shine are removed for a supersonic deep clean without irritation. Every Clarisonic facial cleansing device cleanses skin 6x better than hands alone to leave skin softer and smoother.

To take pore minimizing to the next level—check out our — Deep Pore Cleansing Detoxifying Solution, which combines a Clarisonic Mia 2 facial cleansing device with our Deep Pore Cleansing Brush Head, Deep Pore Daily Cleanser and Deep Pore Detoxifying Clay Mask. Our Deep Pore solution uses our traditional sonic cleansing technology with additional powerful fluid forces to gently remove surface debris and immediately reduce the appearance of your pores by 25%.

  • The 16 Emotional Stages of Getting A Clarisonic For the First Time

We are happy to feature fashion and beauty blogger Jodie Layne’s post “The 16 Emotional Stages of Getting a Clarisonic For the First Time”. I enjoyed reading about the many stages Jodie experienced while falling in love with her Clarisonic Mia 2. Can you relate? Share your Clarisonic love stories on this post!

    Charley Gallay/Getty Images Entertainment/Getty Images

I’ve had my Clarisonic Mia for nearly two years now (happy early anniversary, xo) and every single day that I use it in the shower I try not to think about how empty my life was before this little magic wand came into it. Or how empty my beauty cabinet was. A Clarisonic is essentially a facial cleansing brush that uses sonic technology to brush your skin over 300 times a minute — resulting in the cleanest, softest face of your life on the regular. Seriously. I used to work at a spa and one of the perks was a monthly facial, but the Clarisonic makes my skin feel even better than it did then. Having an electric brush that’s sole purpose is to clean your face makes me feel like a princess, and I’m not sorry about it.

I wanted a Clarisonic long before it was mine, as so often happens in many of the other great love stories out there. Since the day I first knew that I needed it in my life, attaining and using a Clarisonic has been a total emotional roller coaster. I’ve laughed. I’ve cried. I’ve washed my face. Well, I did those three things in relation to the little miracle worker, anyway — and I don’t regret a single moment. So whether you received one as a gift at the holidays or you’re saving up to take extra care of your skin in the new year, here’s what you need to be emotionally prepared for:

“It’s a brush? For my face? Does that even feel good? Why would I spend over a hundred dollars on a brush for my face? Well, mayyybbeee…”

Once you’re interested, you try and find out how it works, but mostly why it works. If you’re really going to do this thing, you’re going to do your research, which means lots of reading about sonic technology, oscillation, and skin elasticity. Look at you, pretty and smart.

You know that you want one and feel sufficiently satisfied by the scientific evidence. But can you really justify dropping that much money on a replacement for the free things at the ends of your arms you already use to wash your face?

    4. BUYING IT

With the conviction of a global warming denier, you believe you need this in your life and you’re ready to do this thing. You might march right down to Sephora and buy it to spare the wait, but you’re probably going to e-order it online at midnight. Pressing “check out” is such a rush!

5 to 7 business days feels like a cruel eternity.

When it finally touches your hands and you can see it and you caress its beautiful curves, that is simply a beautiful moment.

It’s in your grubby little paws and you can’t wait for your life to change and to get it on your face. You read the instruction manual carefully. You have to charge it for eight hours?! IS THERE NO GOD?!

It feels…weird. Not like you expected. Wait, it actually feels pretty good! Yeah, this feels nice! Like a million little kisses from angels all over your face. No, wait — now it feels weird again.

  • Protect Your Skin—5 Tips for Skin Cancer Awareness Month

It will never happen to me. That’s what we all like to think—until one of our loved ones is diagnosed, or the doctor gives us a call.

Skin cancer affects a whopping one in five Americans, but the good news is that it’s highly preventable. A few simple lifestyle changes can mean a world of difference for your health, so take a few minutes to read these tips and pass them on to your loved ones. You just might save a life!

    1. Stick to the shade. The sun’s UV rays are strongest between 10am and 4pm, so be especially careful about sun exposure during those hours. This cute and clever Melanoma Bracelet will change color in the sun to let you know if you’re in harm’s way.
    2. Cover up. Call it an excuse to buy that cute new hat you saw while window shopping the other day, or an opportunity to try out a fun maxi dress. Either way, you’ll be stylish and safe.
    3. Lay it on thick. You can work that bikini at the beach, but don’t forget to wear your sunscreen, too! In fact, you should be wearing SPF 30 or higher every day – whether you’re sunbathing or just walking to the office. Try an all-natural sunscreen like Josie Maran’s Daily Sun Protention or even basic coconut oil, and reapply every few hours.
    4. Know your skin. Your skin is an organ just like your heart or your liver, and you need to take good care of it. Spend a few minutes every month scanning your own moles and freckles to see if any have changed in size, shape or color. Be proactive at the doctor’s office, too; schedule a full body screening with the dermatologist at least once a year.
    5. No tanning beds. Seriously. It’s not worth it. According to, just four visits to the tanning a bed a year can increase your risk of melanoma by 11%!

You are beautiful as you are. Tanned, freckled, smooth or wrinkled—your skin is unique, just like you, and it’s worth taking care of.

What other tips do you have for protecting your skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays and preventing skin cancer?

  • Ask Dr. Robb: Are the Clarisonic and Opal safe for use during pregnancy?

Pregnancy can wreak havoc on your hormones and your skin. The Clarisonic’s patented Sonic Technology removes 6x more makeup than manual cleansing alone by gently gliding over the skin. The sonic micro-message loosens and removes dirt and oil from pores, clarifying skin without harsh chemicals therefore,   improving skin texture. The Sonic technology removes pollutants, oil and bacteria that accumulate on the skin giving a sonic boost to your skin care products and reducing the need for harsh chemicals. Dr. Robb lends his expertise as he answers the question, are the Clarisonic and Opal safe to use during pregnancy and on my bump?

Dr. Robb says that both the Clarisonic and Opal are safe to use on your face for daily cleansing during pregnancy. It is not recommended that you use the Clarisonic on your growing baby bump because it’s a very delicate area, something that is very precious. You could consult you OBGYN but we hope your baby is going to know the feeling when they get older and start using their own Clarisonic.

Dr. Robb also recently told us about what age your child can start using the Clarisonic.
