The final installment in our new series, Understanding Your Skin. This week you joined us as we provided information about skin conditions and concerns. Today we discuss Keratosis Pilaris. Do you struggle with this condition? Learn more today.

One of the most common skin conditions that we encounter with Clarisonic users is Keratosis Pilaris (KP) which is commonly referred to as “chicken skin.” It is genetic follicular condition that typically appears as rough bumps on the skin. Most frequently it appears on the back and outer sides of the arms and can occur on any body part with the exception of glabrous skin which is found on the palms/soles of the feet). It is very rare for this condition to appear on the face.

Keratosis Pilaris results when the body produces excess keratin which is a natural protein in the skin. This excess keratin surrounds the hair follicles in the pores which forms the bumps.

Many Clarisonic users have reported a decrease in the appearance of their KP bumps after using the body brush attachment that comes standard with the Clarisonic PLUS. The Broke-Ass Bride even used the Clarisonic to reduce the appearance of her bumps just in time for the big day!

Eczema is a skin condition that involves scaly and itchy rashes. Other symptoms can include blistering, leathery skin, intense itching, a rash and skin coloring including more or less coloring and redness.

Typically eczema is caused by hypersensitivity in the skin which can lead to itchy and scaly skin that in the long-term can cause irritation. Eczema tends to be hereditary. Those prone to eczema should be cautious of dry skin, exposure to environmental irritants and water, stress and temperature changes.

Fortunately, depending on the stage of eczema it can be treated. Treatments can include but are not limited to moisturizers, soaps, creams, ointments and oral prescription medications.

The first installment in a new series, Understanding Your Skin. Join us this week as we provide information about skin conditions and concerns. First up is Rosacea. Do you struggle with this condition? Learn more today.

We get frequent inquiries as to whether or not the Clarisonic is safe for use with Rosacea. The good news is that the Clarisonic is safe for use with complicated skin conditions like Rosacea. For those of you not familiar Rosacea is a skin condition with symptoms that include inflammation of the cheeks, nose, chin, forehead or eyelids. It can appear as redness, prominent spider-like blood vessels, swelling or skin eruptions. There is no specific cure for Rosacea.

Although there is no cure there are recommendations for a few precautions you can take to help avoid flare-ups. Avoid exposure to the sun and prolonged exertion in hot weather. Try to keep stress at a minimum using one of our quick stress relief suggestions. Finally, try to limit you intake of spicy foods, alcohol, and hot beverages.
