Dr. Robb answers your Sonic Questions: When do the Big Zits Go Away?
Dr. Robb answers Clarisonic fan Barbara’s question about the purging process. If you have ever wondered why the purging process occurs or how long it lasts, watch the below video featuring our very own Dr. Robb.
Dr. Robb says: What you are seeing is what you often see in spas after a deep cleansing facial. Your skin is stimulated so it’s responding by causing these blemishes to occur. Stick with it! Your skin should go back to normal and you will not believe the results with the Clarisonic.
Congratulations to Barbara Belluccio Mason who has won a Clarisonic Mia for submitting this question!
Have you ever wondered at what age you could begin using the Clarisonic? Clarisonic fan, Ritz Sethi, asked this question because he would like to get his daughter started on a Clarisonic skin care regimen. Dr. Robb is here to answer in the video below!
Dr. Robb says, the Clarisonic is very gentle and you can use it at any age. He says; to always supervise just as you would supervise them while they brush their teeth. But the Clarisonic is safe to use at any age.

The Clarisonic cleanses 2xs more effectively than manual cleansing and provides you with smoother skin but Clarisonic fan, Ter, wants to know if the system can help with sun and age spots. Dr. Robb is here to answer her question in the video below!
Dr. Robb says, that the problem actually resides deep within the skin, those products that are out there have a hard time getting deep enough to calm the problem. He says the Clarisonic does do the following, it will help cleanse your skin so well that any of those hyper pigmentation products that you apply will go on smoothly and evenly and absorb better because you’ve removed those physical barriers due to Sonic Technology.
Congratulations to Ter Garney who has won a Clarisonic Mia for submitting this question!
We recently held an Evolution of Skin Care Mia Giveaway throughout the month of July to bring you some of the information from the Evolution of Skin Care event we held in New York earlier this year. The event educated the beauty editors about the differences and benefits associated with Sonic Cleansing, so we wanted to make sure we also passed that information on to you.
Even after a month of fun facts, we know there is still so much to learn about sonic cleansing, so we asked our fans what questions they were dying to ask Dr. Robb, the Vice President of Clinical Research and a Co-founder of Clarisonic.
We filmed Dr. Robb’s answers to 10 fan questions, and will share two questions each week throughout the month of August to continue Clarisonic education. The questions range from what to do during the purging process to what age you can begin using the Clarisonic. We hope these answers will clarify some of the questions you may have about the Clarisonic.
And, because we love to reward our fans, we’re going to post each question in the morning and give you the opportunity to answer it before we reveal Dr. Robb’s answer. If you answer the question correctly before we post the Dr. Robb video, you will be entered into a drawing to win a Clarisonic Mia!
The person who originally submitted the question also wins a Clarisonic Mia for participating.
Stay tuned for today’s question!
The Clarisonic works within the skin’s elasticity safe range to provide superior cleansing and yet still be gentle. Why do we care about skin elasticity?
Skin elasticity is the ability of your skin to stretch and then return to its normal state aided by the collagen fibers that make-up the skin. As you age, collagen levels decrease and collagen fibers become fatigued causing the elasticity of your skin to get poorer and therefore not return as efficiently to its normal position. Since stretching the skin can prematurely weaken the collagen fibers, we designed the Clarisonic to work within the safe zone of skin’s elasticity, where collagen is able to spring back and recover easily.
The graph allows you see how the Clarisonic works with your skin, not against it. What happens to your skin in region three of the skin elasticity graph? Share with us in the comments to be entered in our weekday Mia Giveaways!
Now that we have started a New Year, there is no better time than to take your skincare into your own hands. Just because another year means another birthday and a year older, doesn’t mean the effects have to be seen on your skin. We’ve compiled a list of skincare resolutions for 2011 to help keep your skin looking fresh and young.
Don’t Sleep with Your Makeup On
Your skin needs time to breathe and wearing makeup non-stop can clog your pores.
Wear Sunscreen Daily
Although you may not be in the sun every day, using a moisturizer with an SPF will help fight the signs of aging caused by the sun even when it is overcast outside.
Don’t Pick Your Skin
We all know how tempting it is to pick or scratch a blemish, but this is only prolonging the problem and could possibly result in a scar.
Drink Plenty of Water
Many people don’t drink nearly as much water as the recommended daily amount. Eight glasses a day is a must and your skin will thank you for it.
Get Your Beauty Sleep
During the night, our skin restores itself from the effects of stress, makeup and harmful elements. Inadequate sleep can show through your skin with unwanted dark circles and fine lines so be sure to get your beauty sleep.
Around the holidays we can fall out of our routine of exercising so the New Year is great time to get back into the swing of things. Sweating out your skins impurities through exercising is one healthy way to have glowing skin.
Cleanse With Your Clarisonic!
Try to keep up a regular routine of cleansing with your Clarisonic. We all know life can be hectic getting ready in the mornings and for bed, but aim to use your Clarisonic on a regular basis instead of at random intervals so your skin is accustomed to the sonic cleansing.
Now that we have shared some skincare resolutions for 2011, we want to know yours! Share with us in the comments!
The change in seasons can be rough on your skin. The cold weather strips moisture from your skin generally causing you to alter your normal skincare routine. For example, the eye area is especially delicate and thin, needing extra attention during the colder months. Here are some tips to help keep your skin fresh throughout the winter.
Use a Moisturizer with Sunscreen
Although it might be overcast and rainy, don’t abandon your daily moisturizer with sunscreen. Apply the moisturizer in the morning and night immediately after cleansing to lock the moisture in and protect you from winter glaze.
Eliminate Products Containing Alcohol
Alcohol is drying to the skin. If your toner or any other products contain alcohol, save them for a warmer season.
Avoid Hot Baths and Showers
With the cold temperatures, a hot bath or shower sounds fabulous but little do you know, the hot water strips the skin of its natural moisture. Opt for a warm shower to keep your skin hydrated.
Use a Humidifier
The heater is generally on during these colder months which can be very drying. Use a humidifier to restore moisture to the air.
Extra Care for Your Eyes
The skin around your eyes is more delicate and thin than the rest of your face. Be sure to use an eye cream or serum to lock in moisture and for extra care, check out the Clarisonic Opal Infusion System.
Use Lip Balm with Sunscreen
You may be tempted to lick your chapped lips but you are only worsening their condition. Keep a lip balm with sunscreen on hand to use when your lips start to feel dry.
Dress in Layers
Your skin will compensate if you are too hot or too cold so dress in layers to be able to add and remove pieces accordingly depending on your body temperature.
Take Care of Your Hands and Feet
Hands and feet tend to be extra dry during the winter months. Moisturize often and especially after increased washing of your hands during the cold and flu season.
The winter can be tough on your skin, but with care and attention, you can prevent dry skin and blotchiness. These are some tips we swear by during the winter, but we would love to hear your suggestions!
According to Cosmopolitan, small things count when it comes to taking care of your skin. For instance, making sure to clean your makeup brush every month can help keep your skin looking fabulous.
The experts at Cosmopolitan Magazine recommend using a special kind of soap or a drop of baby shampoo. They discourage using hand soap because the detergents are harsh and can strip the brush.
