Clarisonic systems provide a deep level of cleansing that is more effective than manual face washing and gentle enough to use twice a day. While a side effect of deep cleansing is mild exfoliation, Clarisonic is gentle and can be used in conjunction with exfoliation treatments.

For gentle exfoliation, Dr. Robb recommends using facial scrubs with round spheres with your Clarisonic Sonic Skin Cleansing System. Scrubs with odd-shaped particles, like pointed pieces of shells, sand or grit, can be too rough on your skin. Dr. Robb uses an exfoliating scrub with his Clarisonic once a week, then cleanses all other days using a regular face wash.

Your skin should feel soft and smooth after cleansing, not tight, dry, or itchy. Please test new products carefully to avoid over-stressing your skin.

Dr. Robb says, we recommend that you replace your brush heads every 3-4 months. This is a hygienic thing, after a while they start to look a little funky because you’ve been using them so long; especially if you use them for cleansing off your makeup. Dr. Robb says the thing that he does, is he has it in the shower. The Clarisonic is totally waterproof.  So you can take it into the shower with you, apply the cleanser to it, put it on your face, it goes for a minute then turns off. Then what you can do is rinse off the brush, add a little shampoo to the brush head, rub it around, and then just rinse it underneath the shower head, shake off the extra water and then leave it in the shower until your next use.  Once a week we recommend that you take off the brush head. Don’t worry about getting water on the area underneath the brush head, let the water cascade down, or if you’re at the sink let the spigot rinse off the interior. Shake it off, let it sit overnight, then the next morning, put on the brush head and you are good to go!

Dr. Robb says this is commonly known as K.P. or chicken skin because it looks like a plucked chicken. People with K.P. usually get bumps on the back of the arms or the sides of the legs. The Clarisonic is great for smoothing those out, exfoliating the skin, keeping your skin soft and smooth, and then you can apply your moisturizer. Sometimes you can go to the doctors for this condition and they have certain types of acids in those moisturizers to help soften that area and keep it soft and smooth.  The Clarisonic body brush is the first step to that.

Dr. Robb says, that Clarisonic has never actually done a blackhead study to officially document it’s benefits for reducing blackheads; but we know that overtime yes it will.  He says that blackheads are really hard and tough to get at, but what you should try is our Deep Pore Cleansing brush head. Its patented dual action technology allows for deeper and better cleansing than washing the face by hand.

Dr. Robb recommends that if you are having cosmetic procedures that you talk to your surgeon or dermatologist about how soon you can use the Clarisonic after your procedure. Everyone’s skin is different, everybody’s skin heals differently and you don’t want to use your Clarisonic on open wounds or freshly made incisions. So talk to your skin care professional.

Dr. Robb recommends you talk to your skin care professional after they’ve given you the fillers.  From our experience it is perfectly safe to use after you healed up from the injections the following day. He says that if you’re worried about the Clarisonic moving the fill around your face, that isn’t going to happen.

Dr. Robb says, sharing a brush head is kind of gross like sharing your toothbrush. We recommend that you have your own brush head. Sharing a handle is perfectly okay, but keep your own face brush and make sure to rinse it off with a little shampoo or cleanser and it should last for months!

Dr. Robb says: Yes, the Clarisonic is designed to work with all cleansers. We don’t recommend that use it with an exfoliating scrub that has harsh sharp little particles.  Like shells or anything pointy. If it has a round bead you can even use that on your face.  So, yes you can use any cleanser.
